Learn to cook an all-time favourite Peranakan dish, Ayam Pongteh (in Bahasa), which translates to “chicken stew”. This dish is unlike other Peranakan dishes which can involve complicated spices and take long hours to prepare. This recipe uses a few manageable ingredients and no spices, and you can prepare this at home in 1 hour or less for your family and friends! The two important ingredients for this dish are “taucheo paste” (or salty fermented bean paste), and “caramel soy sauce”, a special flavourful sauce.

In this session, you will learn to prepare and cook the authentic version of Charlie’s Peranakan Ayam Pongteh. Chefs Charles and Catherine cook almost daily at home and are very happy to share their recipe with you and answer any questions that you may have. You will watch and follow along step by step. At the end of this lesson, you can "tarpao" home your dish for your family to try out! Upon registration, you will be given a short shopping list and equipment list for items you need to bring from home.

We welcome a love offering.
